The Department of Finance is pleased to announce the re-introduction of FIN 494 – Risk Management & Insurance. The course, which kicks off on January 16, 2007, will be lead by two prominent members of the insurance community. Tom Hartley, President of Arizona Operations with Moreton & Company leads the Arizona team of risk management, insurance and employee benefits professionals in client service and development in Arizona and the Southwestern U.S. Dan Jones, Chief Executive Officer with Moreton & Company is responsible for managing all of Moreton’s property/casualty and employee benefits broking and consulting activities nationwide. Both Tom and Dan bring valuable experience in the risk management and insurance field that will prove beneficial in teaching this course. Their combined experience and knowledge will also provide a great benefit to the students taking this course.

Course Objective
FIN 494 offers a general introduction to Rick Management and Insurance, including Property, Casualty, Employee Benefits, and Specialized Coverages. This course is designed to develop a basic understanding of the corporate risk management and employee benefits functions. Emphasis will be on learning basic terminologies and techniques associated with corporate risk identification and transfer. A the conclusion of the course, attendees should have a good understanding of the various risk areas that organizations face, and the business decision process associated with their treatment.
