Gary C. Naumann

Mr. Naumann has been involved in activities along the entrepreneurial spectrum for most of the past 30 years. After starting his career with one of the major professional accounting firms, he launched off into the world of entrepreneurship:
 

  • First entrepreneurial position was in the tennis business as a controller and manager of tennis facilities in Missouri and Colorado
     
  • Next, a two year tour of duty to earn his MBA from Harvard Business School
     
  • This was followed by a four year stint as an investment banker in Newport Beach, CA with a boutique firm assisting emerging companies with their business/financial plans and arranging financing
     
  • Four years in banking as a commercial lender with Wells Fargo Bank and Colorado National Bank, dealing with emerging and middle market companies
     
  • Seven years as Director of Corporate Finance with the Orange County, CA office of Deloitte & Touche
     
  • CFO of a rapidly growing importer of clothing for Harley Davidson over a span of thirteen years
     
  • Co-founded, owned, operated and sold a group of specialty toy stores in Newport Beach, CA (1995-2007)
     
  • Associate with the Contrarian Group, an investment firm focused on obtaining controlling interests in rapidly growing companies in the travel and leisure industries
     
  • Visiting Lecturer in Entrepreneurship, primarily at the Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Irvine 1993 -2003 (Five-time recipient of the Excellence in Teaching award)
     
  • On-going consulting practice assisting small to medium-sized companies with capital raising, managing lender/investor relations and developing strategic plans
     

Gary joined the Management Department of the W. P. Carey School of Business in January 2007 to assist in the development, promotion, and teaching of entrepreneurship in the undergraduate and MBA programs.

Currently teaches entrepreneurship in the evening MBA and the Executive MBA programs
