COURSE LOCATION W. P. Carey School of Business

All class sessions are held in the W. P. Carey School of Business' executive classroom suite on the beautiful ASU Main campus in downtown Tempe, Arizona. Downtown Tempe, one of the Phoenix valley's most frequently visited destinations, is located about 15 minutes from Sky Harbor Airport. The average March temperature is 84 degrees Fahrenheit.  Business casual attire is encouraged at all events, however we suggest you bring a light jacket or sweater as the temperature in the classrooms can vary.

Tempe Mission Palms HotelHOTEL INFORMATION

The Tempe Mission Palms, a beautifully appointed hotel in the heart of Downtown Tempe, is a 15-minute walk from the W. P. Carey School of Business. The Mission Palms is surrounded by several restaurants, shopping and some of Downtown Tempe's most exciting hotspots. A free city shuttle runs continuously from the hotel through the ASU campus to the W. P. Carey School of Business. We will provide both a shuttle and a guide to walk you from the hotel to the course location on the first day of the Institute.

Attendees are responsible for making their hotel arrangements. The Institute hotel rate is $189 per night (single or double rate).  In addition, there is a $9.75 per night hospitality fee.   This fee includes the following:  airport transportation, valet parking at hotel, access to a health club and fitness center, local and toll-free telephone calls, high-speet wireless Internet access, incoming fax service, daily newspaper delivered to each guestroom and in-room coffee service.  Reservations must be made by Friday, February 22, 2008 to guarantee your room rate. After this date, rates and room availability are not guaranteed. For reservations or more information, call the hotel directly at (480) 894-1400 and indicate that you are attending the "ASU Services Institute".

TIMELINE FOR TRAVEL

The Institute starts Monday, March 24th at 1:00 p.m. and ends Wednesday, March 26 at approximately 5:00 p.m. The classroom will open at 12:30 p.m. on Monday and light refreshments will be available. The course runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will have a networking reception on Monday evening and a reception and dinner on Tuesday night.  

MEALS AND NETWORKING EVENTS 

Program Kick-Off and Networking Reception 
An opening night reception will take place Monday evening starting at 5:30 p.m. We will enjoy fine southwestern cuisine in a fun and casual, outdoor setting. It's the perfect atmosphere for getting to know your fellow attendees!   

Reception and Dinner at the Desert Botanical Gardens  

Desert Botanical GardensWe will host a reception and dinner for our attendees at the Desert Botanical Gardens on Tuesday, March 25. Enjoy beautiful desert sunset views at this unique garden setting. You are welcome to bring a guest to this event, but please let us know in advance. This event will be held outdoors and involve a short walk across a gravel pathway, so we encourage comfortable shoes and casual dress for this function. Self-guided tour maps will be available for those who wish to explore the gardens.

Networking Luncheon at Arizona State University

SLI Networking Luncheon
A luncheon on campus at ASU will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25 for faculty and Institute attendees. We will be providing table topics that you and your fellow attendees select, in order to enhance the discussion and stimulate ideas based on the issues you and your peers find most relevant and compelling. 

Drinks and light refreshments will be provided before class sessions and at all breaks.  Lunch on Wednesday will be on your own so you can explore ASU's Memorial Union and Downtown Tempe.

EXPENSES 
 
The Institute Tuition Fees are as Follows:

Team Rate: Teams of 3 or more individuals - $3200 per person prior to February 22, and $3400 per team member after that date.

Prior to February 22, 2008 (Early Bird Registration Rates)

AFSM and Center Member/Center Program Alumni - $3400
Non-member - $3700

After February 22, 2008

AFSM and Center Member/Center Program Alumni - $3600
Non-member - $3900

The tuition fee includes: course materials, pre-readings and a program binder. Meals included are: a reception on Monday evening, a plated lunch on Tuesday, a reception and dinner on Tuesday evening, snacks and refreshments for breaks throughout each day.  

Cancellation Policy: If your plans change and you are unable to attend, a colleague may come in your Substitutions place. If you (or a substitute) cannot attend, you must cancel your registration in writing and will be charged $200 before March 17 and 50% of the tuition thereafter, or you may apply your tuition to next year. All substitutions must be approved and are permitted up to the start of the Institute. No-shows will be charged 100% of the tuition.

Additional expenses that are the responsibility of the attendee include: airfare, parking, transportation to and from the airport, car rental, lodging, and any meals not listed above, etc.
