Full-time MBA Students
The W. P. Carey MBA program is both rigorous and flexible, combining a strong core curriculum with a wide selection of electives. During the first year of the program, the core curriculum teaches critical skills in finance, information technology, marketing, operations and management of people. In the second year, students build on this base by selecting from nearly 60 elective courses.
W. P. Carey MBA students can shape their academic experience to meet personal career goals by pursuing several areas of specialization including Financial Management and Markets, Health Sector Management, Information Management, Real Estate, Strategic Marketing and Services Leadership, Supply Chain Financial Management and Supply Chain Management. Throughout the program, classroom learning is complemented by hands-on experiences to foster leadership, communication and collaborative skills.
Working Professionals Students
As a leading management program for working professionals, the Evening, Executive and Online MBA Programs enable students to accelerate their career advancement by honing their business skills and acumen. This program features a comprehensive general management curriculum and elective courses. Working professionals are able to apply rigorous classroom learning directly to the business environment on a daily basis, giving them a unique perspective on management theory and practice.
Career Advancement
Career advisors in the W. P. Carey MBA program devote significant resources to enhance the personal and professional skills of students. In addition to individual career consultation and guidance services, all students are required to complete a for-credit Career Leadership course that focuses on self-assessment, research and decision making, as well as behavioral and case interview training, and successful marketing and networking techniques.
With the goal of developing effective leaders ready to address fundamental challenges in a changing workplace and drive performance, the career management team has partnered with the Hay Group to provide coaching in emotional intelligence. The program offers students the tools to understand themselves and how others see them, and concentrates on characteristics of self-awareness and self-control; the ability to communicate and influence others; and facility at building bonds and creating group synergies.
