Scholarship Opportunities

There are several ways for students to apply for scholarships. Business students should apply through the W. P. Carey School of Business and the ASU Scholarship Office opens new window. Scholarships through the W. P. Carey School are limited to business students while the ASU Scholarship Office handles scholarships targeted to ALL ASU students.

The W. P. Carey Scholarship General Application should be completed each academic year. A separate application may be required for certain business scholarships. Please contact the Undergraduate Scholarship Office for information on these scholarship opportunities.

Scholarships for Accountancy Students

Application availability and deadlines differ for each scholarship program. Please check each program for details.

  • School of Business General Scholarship Application
    If you are interested in scholarship opportunities for 2010-2011 academic year, please consider completing the general scholarship application through the school of business. The school of business offers general and departmental scholarships. All undergraduate business students are encouraged to apply. Scholarships are available to all students ranging from incoming freshmen to seniors. Scholarship awards are based on need, merit and/or involvement and award amounts range from $500 - $5,000.   • RSM McGladrey-FEI Academic Scholarship
    The Arizona Chapter of Financial Executives International is now accepting applications for its annual academic award program, the 2011 RSM McGladrey-FEI Academic Excellence Award. Our academic award program, which the Arizona Chapter has sponsored for over fifteen years, supports Arizona university students specializing in accounting and/or finance in order to continue a legacy of strong financial leaders for Arizona companies and organizations. The Committee will select one candidate per university for an award that will be presented at the Chapter dinner meeting on April 12th at the Phoenix Country Club, 7th Street at Thomas Road near downtown Phoenix.  The Academic Award will be $2,000 per Award Winner.
  • Dr. William Huizingh and Mr. John Mumford Scholarship
    The school's most prestigious scholarship is the Huizingh - Mumford Scholarship. John Mumford, alumnus of the School of Accountancy, has given this endowment to recognize and honor the outstanding teaching of Dr. William Huizingh, Professor Emeritus of Accountancy, and to attract outstanding students to the ASU accountancy degree programs. This is a one to five year academic scholarship, renewable on an annual basis (see "Terms and Conditions" for criteria). Recipients are awarded $3,000 per academic year during undergraduate study and $5,000 during graduate work. The ASU Student Financial Assistance Office opens new window disburses funds at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters.
  • Dr. William Huizingh Scholarship
    This is a scholarship available to Accountancy majors who have graduated from an Arizona high school.
  • AICPA/Accountemps Student Scholarship
    The AICPA/Accountemps Student Scholarship is a joint program with Accountemps, awarding five $2,500 scholarships to students pursuing a degree in accounting, finance or information systems. View more information

  • Charlene B Kirtley Memorial Scholarship
    Each year, the Phoenix Chapter of AFWA (formerly known as ASWA) provides scholarship awards for deserving accounting and finance students.  We are pleased to begin the process of accepting applications again for the 2012-2013 year.

    Purpose:  This scholarship fund was established in honor of Charlene Kirtley, a devoted ASWA member, to promote the field of accounting and support women studying accounting and finance.  Charlene's daughter Cathy Young carries on the legacy today.
     
    Award information: The scholarship committee has determined that AFWA will award several $500 and $1,000 scholarships for the 2012-2013 fiscal year.  This committee reviews each application and grades it based on a set of criteria that looks at leadership, character, communication skills, scholastic average and financial need.

    Submission Deadline: Completed Applications must be received by February 28, 2013 for consideration in this year's award season.  Winners will receive notification the first week of March and will be recognized at our March Technical meeting.
