Evaluation Process

The Master of Accounting and Master of Taxation are advanced technical degree programs. As such, applicants are required to meet specific accounting prerequisites before being eligible to apply. Qualified applicants are encouraged to pursue the MACC or MTAX degrees immediately upon the completion of their undergraduate degree. Work experience is not required, although internship experience prior to enrolling is strongly encouraged.

The minimum requirement for admission to the programs is a four-year bachelor's degree or the equivalent of a U.S. four-year degree. Three-year bachelor's degrees are not considered equivalent.

The Admissions Committee considers the applicant’s resume, essays, academic transcript, GMAT score, letters of recommendation and internship experience. You are encouraged to provide depth to your application through responses to the three essay questions, one of which provides the opportunity to address any weaknesses in your application.

Application files are generally reviewed by the Admissions Committee within two weeks of their completion.

Evaluation Criteria

Applications reviewed by the Admissions Committee may be considered more competitive if they are consistent with the class profile. Among the areas considered:

  • An undergraduate accounting degree and overall GPA near or above the class average
  • A GMAT score near or above the class average
  • A TOEFL score above 80 (iBT)
  • Strong recommendations from faculty (with at least one from an accounting professor)
  • Internship experience

To discuss your personal situation, contact our office to speak with the program advisor for the program to which you are applying.
