W. P. Carey School of Business faculty members are world-class teachers, researchers, practitioners and thought leaders who bring classroom learning to life. Their research production ranks in the top 25 in the world among business schools and they serve as consultants to more than 300 companies and government agencies.

They also contribute to and edit prestigious academic journals, and are sought out as experts in their fields by such media outlets as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, BusinessWeek, USA Today, CNN and National Public Radio.

Our students work alongside faculty mentors in conducting and publishing research, providing consultation to local businesses and creating strategies to address real-world business challenges.

Artur Hugon

Artur Hugon
Assistant Professor of Accountancy
Dr. Hugon joined the School of Accountancy from Georgia State University, where he was named Beta Alpha Psi Outstanding Accounting Professor. His research areas include security valuation, managerial earnings guidance, economics of financial intermediation and quality of investment research. He received his B.S. degree and master's in accounting from Miami University and his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.


Michal Matejka

Michal Matejka
Harvey and Missy Jabara Family Accounting Professorship
Dr. Michal Matejka joined the School of Accountancy from the University of Michigan. His research interests are in the areas of organizational design, performance measurement, and incentive compensation. Some of his ongoing research projects focus on performance measurement and compensation of CFOs or target setting in loss-making companies. His research has been published in The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Management Accounting Research, and Management Science. He received his Ph.D. from Tilburg University, the Netherlands, and his B.S. and M.S. degrees in economics and business administration from Masaryk University, Czech Republic.



Stephen Hillegeist

Stephen Hillegeist
Associate Professor of Accountancy

Dr. Stephen Hillegeist joined the School of Accountancy from INSEAD (The European Institute for Business Administration). His research interests are in the areas of voluntary and mandatory disclosure, information asymmetry, and executive compensation. Some of his ongoing research projects focus on mandatory disclosure regulation, financial analysts' effects on firms' disclosure decisions, and the effects of bankruptcy risk on CEO compensation. His research has been published in The Accounting Review, the Journal of Accounting and Economics, and the Review of Accounting Studies. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in accounting from the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley, and his B.S. degree in economics from Princeton University.
