Description:
Perform tasks necessary to balance and update general ledger and subsidiary accounts, maintain and reconcile accounts daily, monthly and quarterly as required, and manage other accounting related duties. Maintain the Credit Union’s accounting records and reports, ensuring that they are in compliance with generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP) and the Credit Union’s accounting practices. Prepare various account reports as required. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Description:
  • Analyze balance and reconcile assigned general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts daily, weekly and monthly as required. Research and correct any out of balance situations or discrepancies in the general ledger.
  • Prepare, pay and file all account payable for the credit union. Research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review close of business reports and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications. Responsible for assuring clearing accounts balance daily. Prepare summary journal vouchers and verify that all other journal vouchers and cash received have been properly balanced and authorized.
  • Set-up and run all prepaid, FASB and fixed asset items in the depreciation program. Post and reconcile the subsidiary records for the accrued income and expense accounts
  • Prepare necessary tax documents monthly and quarterly.
  • Work on special projects as requested by supervisor or other members of management

The position includes research, development of analysis in excel and drafting correspondences. We expect our interns to commit to 15-20 hours per week. We pay $15 per hour and the position runs from Fall 2008 (or Summer 2008) through the end of the 2008/2009 academic year.

Job Description:

  • Risk and Compliance Management - Help to identify potential design improvements and optimize IT controls structures and serve as primary interface with internal and external audits for business unit.
  • Governance and Policy, Standards and Guidelines - Perform analysis to determine appropriateness of the current control structure and implement or coordinate compliance initiatives (including policy, standards, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and legal requirements) for the business unit.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree requested or working toward the undergraduate, but experience will be weighed for a strong seasoned candidate.
  • Masters degree a strong plus.
  • Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate risks at all levels in the organization.
  • Candidate is expected to have a broad understanding of technical controls to design effective and practical controls implementations.
  • Candidate should have project management skills to be able to manage multiple projects, remediation activities, audits, and regional activities.
  • Candidate should have an audit background (schooling for both internal and external requirements) with a strong understanding of IT risk management and controls structures.
